First Week in Oz

While Dana was off playing captain of the high seas, the kids and I were off to Oz.

It may not be as in depth as Dana’s posts, maybe more pics than writing!

Airports are miserable, but a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe and a quick walk around the shops made the waiting pass quickly.

The kids were sad to say goodbye to Momma (who had to wait to check in. They soon perked up once their food arrived.

The flight was uneventful until we were about 20 minutes out from Sydney. I noticed on the interactive air map that we had been circling for a while. It turns out there was a massive storm over the airport in Sydney. It was then that the captain came in and announced we would be diverted to Brisbane.

In the end, we were only in Brisbane for about an hour to refuel. We did not even disembark. A quick flight back to Sydney got us in about 3 hours later than planned.

Due to Billy needing to be at school the next day he need to be in bed so we cabbed it to James house and arrive just after midnight.

Elfvis made it too!

My view in the morning from my bed. Never get tired of this!
We went into the city and parked at James’ office. We were meeting Matt and Josh for lunch. After lunch, Matt went back to work and the kids and I went for a walk around the Harbour.

After some Christmas shopping at Miranda Mall, wrapping was in order after the kids were in bed.

Sunday Josh and I went to take the practical and exam to get our boat licenses. I’m pleased to say that we both passed.

After the boat test we went to Matt’s for the night in Castle Hill. The kids swam, we played street cricket and had a fabulous beef roast.

The next day we hung around Matt’s house then met him for lunch at the RSL.

The next few days were mostly fishing, boating and eating out and the various restaurants within the boats reach.

Breakfast at the Motor Boat Club

Looking for good fishing spots

Fishing off the boat

SkyZone at Miranda. A great place to leave the kids while I finished the Christmas shopping.

Football at the park

Thai food at Como marina

On Thursday we went into the City to see the lights and have a good meal.

Two years apart almost to the day.

Obligatory pokies.

Unfortunately, terrible storms prevented some night pictures but got a good one in the morning.

This is at a newish restaurant at Como marina called @Como. Great tapas.

Before Dana and Lou arrived there were some jobs to do. We concreted some steps to the beach and had a general tidy up. Of course cricket and fishing broke up the chores.

I’ll finish this post with a picture of a beautiful rainbow.

Happy Christmas everybody!!!!!
